How can local independent compete with a national department store in bridal registry? By signing up with Your Registry. The service charges a low monthly fee scaled to the size of your store, and the first 30 to 60 days are free. Services range from a informational booklet to distribute to brides, to staff training, to a Web presence on www.yourweddingregistry.com where guests can order online. A customer service staff is on call to answer questions by phone, fax, e-mail, or regular mail during retail hours. Internet-savvy retailers get a free e-mail address and can access the server directly to update the list with in-store purchases, but no Internet access is required to use the service. Your Registry will fax orders to retailers for fulfillment or, if the merchant has no fax, call. Your Registry also generates merchant reports on sales by store location; events and items registered at your store; the current status, and sales.
